The Devil Wears Prada is BACK!

It’s time for all those budding fashion journalists to get excited again. Lauren Weisberger, former personal assistant to Anna Wintour although more commonly known as the writer of the fantastic The Devil Wears Prada has done it again. It has recently been confirmed that Lauren is in the process of writing a sequel to everyone’s favourite book which is due for release in 2013.

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns is due to be released next April and a sneak peak has revealed that the lovable, perhaps fictional version of Anna Wintour, Miranda Priestly is back. It really is something to look forward to.

The story follows Anne Hathaway’s character Andy, eight years on. Not only is she getting married, who the lucky man is we do not know (please, please, please be Nate), but she is also the editor of a bridal magazine and BFF’s with the once upon a time enemy, Emily.

Whether the book will be adapted into a film again is unknown but with the success of the last one, grossing more than £196m worldwide, it would be a huge shame should it not.

Keep your eyes out for this guaranteed summer bestseller next Easter. It’s a definite must have.

Wonderfully British

Glamour Awards 2012

I know it’s an easy option to write about the best and worst dressed at all the glamorous award ceremonies, but I just couldn’t help myself. This year’s Glamour Awards certainly lived up to the name with everybody from the A-List to the Z-List turning up in style. Winners included Jessie J, picking up Best Solo Artist, Kylie Minogue bagging the Outstanding Contribution award, Fearne Cotton took home the Best Radio Presenter award while best friend Holly Willoughby was awarded as Best Presenter.

First up on my best dressed list is Fearne Cotton. Her Mauve “bubble-wrap” style dress was strangely intriguing and I couldn’t help but find myself wanting one. Teamed with lilac shoes and sixties style hair, she dazzled on the red carpet next to boyfriend Jesse Wood.

Cara Theobald, Downton Abbey’s new girl, oozed innocence in her LWD teamed with a statement black handbag and sandals.

Jessie J had everyone’s heads turning as she arrived in a gorgeous black Julien Macdonald dress. To complete the look, she accessorised with a Lulu Guinness clutch and Kat Maconie’s Velma Booties.

Veering away from the expected, Abbey Clancey surprised everyone with her choice of clothing for the evening. A white tailored trouser suit that was barely covering her chest earned her serious bravery/style points.

As well as the ones already stated, below are some of the others that caught my eye.

Rosie for Autograph

Marks and Spencer’s show off new lingerie line designed by none other than the face of the brand, Rosie Huntington Whiteley.

The line will keep with the simple style of the store with the name Rosie for Autograph and is said to be made up of 33 pieces including silk sets, camisoles, French knickers and a kimono-style robe. The rose prints, soft tones and deco-inspired detailing gives the undies a fantastic 1920’s feel.

Rosie said: "M&S is an iconic British brand, adored by many so I'm very excited to be launching my debut lingerie line with them," said Huntington-Whiteley. "I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with the design team to create my dream collection and I'm looking forward to a fun and creative time ahead."

Since beginning work for the British brand in 2011, she has been a huge success not only for the company but her herself as well with a few movie titles under her belt along with many modelling opportunities.

"We are so pleased to have Rosie on board to design her first collection for us - she really understands beautiful lingerie and what works on the body," said M&S executive director of clothing Kate Bostock. "With all her modelling experience she has great eye for colour and style which, coupled with our extensive knowledge in lingerie design and technique, is a winning formula that we can't wait to share with our customers."

The line will launch in Marks and Spencer’s store and online in September.

The Diamond Jubilee - Westwood style

Vivienne Westwood is the face of British design so who better to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth than the devoted designer?

Westwood has just unveiled her beautifully unexpected range in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee called The Red Carpet Capsule Collection. The collection was inspired by gowns that the Queen herself has worn and slightly veers away from the typical Vivienne Westwood designs with calmer colouring and softer cuts. The fabrics used are fit for a Queen, think silk satins and taffeta and come in a range suitable for any occasion from cocktail dresses to bridal-esque floor sweepers. Here are a couple of examples from the collection:

David Bailey Returns To The East End

Anyone familiar with David Bailey will more than likely be aware that this famous photographer grew up in none other than the East End, Newham to be more precise and what better way for him to pay homage to his hometown than to host an exhibition dedicated to life in the East End?

The exhibition will focus on then and now, with photographs dating back to the mid 1960’s when Bailey still lived there. In an interview with Vogue, he said: “The concentration is on the Sixties, Eighties and now.”

As well as focussing on street scenes, the exhibition also includes portraits of residents throughout the years, one of which is featured above and all of the photographs are those that Bailey has captured throughout his career.

Three sets of images will make up the exhibition, the first puts together images from the 1960’s, the second focusses on the 1980’s and the third were taken in the last five years.

The exhibition is organised by East End arts charity Create where director Hadrian Garrard said: "The fact Bailey is from the East End was really important for us. We always try to work with artists who have links to the area and he's a local hero.”

The exhibition will open at the Royal Docks, Newham on July 14th - August 11th 2012.
